Last Day Here

Well, it's Saturday the 14th and our last day in New Orleans. We're catching a plane to Dallas this afternoon, and from Dallas to Seattle. We should arrive around 8 this evening.

Yesterday (the notorious Friday the Thirteenth), was a free day with no work to be done. We had breakfast at Cafe Du Monde (which is famous for its beignets) and then broke off into groups for shopping. We got plenty of souvenirs (and the boys got feather boas!) and then met back at Cafe Du Monde and went to see Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix in a small theater. The book was way better in my opinion. We had dinner at Mulates, a restaurant of mainly seafood and alligator. Almost everyone tried the alligator. It was good and tasted like warped chicken. A couple of us (not including me) became CCDs (Certified Cajun Dancers). It's easy once you get the hang of it, but at least one of the dancers has to know what they're doing. You become a CCD by dancing with a certain person (whose name I do not know) at Mulates.

After dinner, we had a final discussion about the trip and then held a dance party in the church's library. That was a lot of fun. You'll hear more from us when we get home, and we'll be doing a presentation at Adult Ed on the 29th.

Many thank to all the chaperones, especially Nancy, our cook. It's been wonderful!

Keep New Orleans in your prayers.

Hi all,
By now you're on your way home. I'm sorry I didn't "discover" your blog until today.
Thanks for the great stories and pictures.
I'm privledged to know many of you, and awed and inspired by the work you've accomplished while in New Orleans.
Thanks for your ministry to the people of New Orleans. I look forward to hearing more about your experiences.
Blessings, Chari Avolio (another grey haired lady)

Hey Fuzion Travelers -

So glad to know y'all made a safe trip and that you got to St. Paul's. Hope you got to meet up with that crazy rector of theirs, the Good Rev. Will Hood, and many others at St. Paul's who have become our dear friends. They do so VERY MUCH appreciate all you do for them and their tattered city. It really means a lot for all New Orleanians to know they are not fogotten. God bless you for all you've done.

I want to meet up with some of you ASAP (writting this on 7-16, Monday). I know you're exhausted right now but we need some of your pictures, reflections, and perhaps one or two of you to go on camera to speak of your experiences. This is for a video to go out to all congregations in the Diocese of Olympia around August 1 to update everyone on all our efforts in New Orleans. And you're sure a big part of it!

Thanks for all you've done and will do in the future. See you soon.

And please check out our St. Paul's blog (in BAD need of an update, please forgive) at stpaulsstories.blogspot.com. We started this in April 2006 on our first visit to the city and we've been back twice since. Also, we visited St. Margaret's early this year but missed the youth group - I guess you were away that weekend - HYC, maybe? At any rate, we sure have a connection with you already. We look forward to meeting up with you soon.

Blessings to you +
